Being a dirtbag from downunder, i'm kind of intrigued as to when you get all yr kiwi music? Human Instinct through to the Rendrizors! Not so difficult to pick up digitally but commendable choices.. Also a terminals/Brian Crook fan..Superb.
There's been plenty of kiwi music to get in the States for a couple decades now, in good record stores but mainly by ordering direct from the dirtbags themselves, the small labels and distributors... I got into the market in the 90s especially after seeing Dead C open for Sonic Youth... Now I'm checking out some things I never bought from blogs like the legendary Kiwi Tapes and about 300 others, but downloading is totally out of control - even if you just limit it to out-of-print stuff, that's still a lot of money that used to be spent at used record stores and then ebay, now being spent on computers and external hard drives - case in point, after reading about it for years but never really seeing it for sale, I had to check out Stoned Guitar when it was up on some random Euro blog... I had gone through life too long without hearing Billy TK, it was time - the album is great. Heavy pub rock with blatant noise/punk overtones from TK...
Kiwi tapes is a good one. Its a shame its finished but no doubt more NZ classics will emerge on its sucessor. Peter Jeffries' Last great Challenge and the Xpressway comp Killing Capitalism w/ Kindness are 2 fantastic ones you should get off there [if you havent already]. BTW, my parents have that Stoned Guitar LP!
stoned guitar is the most over-rated shit from nz since the dead c. extended distorto guitar solo over tepid funk-rock doth not = classic. billy tk is pretty much the nz equivilant of carlos santana and should be treated as such.
Those chch cunts need to cheer up and stop drinking the tea... closest that city got to screaming lord sutch was th' chants. if you like bryan adams check out the new zealand bands dragon or th' dudes.
ok and while i'm on the subject.. how come americans are so obsessed with 45 year olds from the arse end of the world? not enough hicks making music up there for you?
I pay attention to hicks of all ages from all arse-ends of the world if they make music I like. I hate Bryan Adams, of course. Love all Dead C from at least 1987-1997. Still hold on to 2 or 3 Santana albums.

Thanks, I bet next you're gonna tell me Brian Crook is the NZ equivalent of Bryan Adams! (And that he should be treated as Screaming Lord Sutch...)
